How I teach
I love to teach students to learn, to challenge them to think for themselves and to explore things they have never thought to explore. I am an advocate of "life long learning". Students describe me as "humorous, straight forward, challenging, but fair". I find many things in life amusing, I often share it with students, you may not see my perspective at times and that is ok with me. I require respect in the classroom, for everyone. I believe people must be free to "ask the stupid questions" and they are in my class. I encourage dialogue and thinking. I am proud of the courses I teach, they will stand up to any University course...they will challenge you, but they are "doable." They take effort, but many do well...some don't. I think most fail because they don't really want to try. I can't do anything about that. I am an advocate of people being responsible for their lives. Students are responsible for their experience of my class and their participation. I am not an entertainer, I am a teacher...there is a difference! If you want an easy, do nothing, learn nothing class, I would not advise you to take my class. If you are willing to put effort into it, want to learn new "cool stuff" and not be "too tortured" by a class, sign up!
Information about me
As I said above, I am an advocate of "life long learning", therefore, I love to travel, to see new things, talk to new people and discover what there is to be discovered. I am currently working on degrees (Masters and Doctorate) in clinical Psychology because I also am passionate about people being well (physically and emotionally). I guess I need something else to do in my "spare time" after teaching!
