How I teach
Teaching methods vary based upon the project and the course. Most studio assignments are designed to mimic the real world of design where the focus is on team work and design development. Students are encouraged to make appointments for one on one time in order to provide them with the extra attention they need for success in project development.
Classroom lectures incorporate various methods of instruction including video presentations, and power point lectures. Periodic group discussion sessions are held where students are asked to “pin up” their sketches in order to discuss design and space planning issues.
Course objectives closely follow the Standards set forth by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
Information about me
I love sports of any kind especially golf and tennis. Although sports activities have sort of taken a back seat since I began teaching, I still enjoy swimming, biking and running. I have competed in several running events including the Seattle Marathon a few years ago.
I am a licensed instrument rated pilot and have logged thousands of hours in my own private plane traveling with my husband to every corner of the northern continent and the Yucatan. Although we no longer own a plane we never miss an opportunity to travel.
