Glenn Currier — Professor and Director of Conflict Management Studies

Glenn Currier

I love teaching.  I especially enjoy teaching conflict resolution.  It is as if my life experiences prior to my beginning teaching these courses (1998) were aimed at my teaching mediation and conflict resolution.  I enjoy the process of mediation and believe that conflict resolution is a new dynamic profession that has tremendous promise for our communities and societies.  My philosophy is to use conflict resolution processes to empower individuals and enhance their sense of dignity and worth.  I am mostly interested in facilitating communication and assisting others to solve their problems rather than acting as THEIR problem solver.  I find this profession and this field to be creative and valuable and I am honored to be part of it.

Professional Background
I have a Masters Degree and an additional 24 semester hours of post-graduate work in sociology, education, and economics.  My training in mediation and conflict resolution was taken at El Centro College and Southern Methodist University.  I am a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution, am on the Council of the Texas Mediation Trainers Roundtable, and I am a member of the Texas Association of Mediators, The Texas Bar ADR Section, the Texas Bar Family Section, and the Texas Community College Teachers Association.  I believe it is important to continually grow professionally and I regularly take courses, participate in workshops, teach new courses, and attend professional conferences.
